Hi Folks, I run my homeserver on a Ryzen CPU with Proxmox as OS 24/7. On this machine I run Plex and various other containers and VMs. Since the Ryzen 2700 was a good choice for the core- and thread-count running CAD and CFD VMs, for Plex want to use hw-transcoding it was a bad choice.

The problem is that only the absolute newest GPUs support hardware acceleration for AV1. Its one reason the new Intel ARC cards are looking HOT right now is because you have a $140 GPU that is supposed to be better at transcoding than some of the newer cards that cost 3x to 4x as much. x265 vs AV1.
